March 2012 Newsletter

Hello and Welcome to our March 2012 newsletter.

Our aim is to be able to update you on anything you have missed over the last month or so, especially if you missed a meeting.

March Meeting

14 members attended and we have 4 apologies.

Quiz Night

We had hoped to have a speaker for our March meeting but unfortunately due to circumstances which arose after our programme was produced the people we had hoped to attend were not available. So March meeting became or quiz night. We had a selection of general knowledge questions and a “picture round”. It was a close contest with Emma, Ellis and Shelly coming out on top.

Glamorgan Show

The Glamorgan show is to be held on 28th July 2012. Several Schedules, including details of requirements for exhibits, were on the information table. The Committee have purchase a copy of “On with the Show”. An NFWI Handbook for Exhibitors, Judges and Show Committees. This is full of useful information for show organizers, exhibitors and judges from how to run a show, to what the judges should look for when considering exhibits and good advice to exhibitors to how to present their wares. This will be available at each meeting for anyone who wants to see it.

April Meeting

In keeping with the season this will be our Easter Egg Hunt. Hope you haven’t over-indulged over the weekend.

Recipe for the Month

The quantities given are for one serving, but can be easily increased to accommodate as many people as you want to feed – How big is your Wok?

• ½ red pepper, de-seeded and sliced
• 1 tbsp soy sauce
• 30g/1oz mange tout

Preparation method
1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok and sauté the garlic and chicken, until browned all over. Add the pepper to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
2. Stir in the soy sauce, mange tout and chicken stock, and continue to stir-fry over a medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked through.
3. Serve

Thought for the month

There are three ways of getting things done.
1 Do it yourself
2 Pay someone to do it
3 Tell the kids they’re not allowed to do it.
