Welcome
to our November/December
2012 newsletter.
Apologies
for the lateness of this newsletter, Christmas has been on my mind
for the last couple of months and everything else went by the board.
When I did get around to writing the newsletter for some reason I
didn't save it correctly and I lost all the work. Anyway, the aim
of the newsletter
is to be able to update you on anything you may have
missed if you didn't attend our November and December meetings and
also to inform you of any future events.

November
meeting
- 11 members plus 2 guests attended our November meeting and there were 3 apologies.
- Our guest for our November 14th meeting was Jeanette Blackmore a representative from the Body Shop. It was an opportunity to promote our branch by bringing a friend or relative. We raised over £50.00 for our group whilst having a really enjoyable evening. We had an opportunity to test many of the Body Shop products and sort out some Christmas presents.
- We asked members to design a logo to put on our stationery and banner. Votes were made by all attendees and I am pleased to announce that Cheryl John was the winner. Cheryl created a wonderful gate design which Erica is in the process of editing to enable it to be used as our logo.

December
meeting/Annual
Christmas Dinner
- Thank you to all who attended our Christmas meal at La Trattoria on the 12th December and for making it such an enjoyable evening. There were 13 members at the Dinner and as usual the meal was wonderful and excellent value for money. Thanks to Erica and Ellis for organizing the Christmas meal.

January
9th
2013 is our first meeting of the New Year. We
have guests Carol Davies and Jacqui Pugh who will talk to us about
patchwork and give us some ideas on how to start our banner which
needs to be completed by November 2013. Hope to see you there.
- Just a reminder that WI membership fees are due in January. The cost of membership for 2013 is £33.00 per annum.
- At our January meeting we have been asked to vote on which resolutions we want to go to the vote at the 2013 NFWI AGM which is being held in Cardiff this year. The two resolutions short listed are:
a)
Decline
of our high streets and town centres
b)
Resolving to keep young people suicide-safe online
Further details on
these resolutions can be found on the NFWI website or in the
November/December edition of the WI Life Magazine.
Please
don’t forget our chosen charity – the Local Food Bank and bring a
non perishable food item if you want to donate. Doesn’t have to be
anything expensive – small can of fruit, long life milk, packet
soup, etc.
